Extraordinary Plant Collection of Ranno ’o Astra: Satrum tree. Inventing a new alphabet for a photograph - The magic behind the fine art photography process

I recently started working on my new photography art piece - Satrum tree. The main idea behind this artwork is to depict the magical properties of this very special and rare tree from the Extraordinary Plant Collection of Ranno 'o Astra. You can see the preparation process in the video below. I had to invent a whole new alphabet for this composition alone. You can see several unfamiliar symbols belonging to this language on the tree's bark in the video above. It all started from an idea of a tree that can predict the future (you can find out more about...

Extraordinary Plant Collection of Ranno ’o Astra: Tesro'on. What does an animal's soul look like?

I often like to invest some time into a bit of a DIY for my fine art still life photography compositions. It all starts with an idea in my head which is then turned into a sketch. This sketch is in turn transformed into a ready-to-photograph composition, followed by hours and hours of photographing it in a close to complete darkness. By spraying its spores it leaves animals immobile and causes severe hallucinations from which no...

Wave - How is a photography idea born?

Many people ask me where and how I get inspiration for my photography artworks. And my answer usually is that I combine all my past experience with what I see, hear and sense in the world day to day in my head (heart?) and then, as a result, something completely new is born. For example, at the moment I am working on my next art piece called Wave. I think the root inspiration for it comes from my years and years in commercial/fashion photography. While working in a photo studio, I had to carefully wrap mannequins with designers' clothing to...

Broken vase: How is photography composition made?

Many people ask me how the photography composition is made. Where does it start? What goes into the process from start to finish? Today I would like to show you what went into the preparation process for one of my recent photo sessions. Most of the items in this composition have gone a long way waiting to be photographed. I'll probably tell you about all of them next time, as otherwise, this blog will end up being of the size of a small novel! But I would love to share with you today the story behind the vase you see and what has gone into...
